BETWEEN TINY CITIES

Take the raw, wild energy of a b*by battle, add skilful contemporary choreography and improvisation expertly performed by dancers from two different worlds, throw in a good dose of humour and you get Between Tiny Cities រវាងទីក្រុងតូច. Phnom Penh dancer Erak Mith and Darwin’s Aaron Lim use the rituals, movement styles and language of their shared hip hop culture to reveal their vastly different backgrounds and the choreographic links that unite them in this dramatic and intimate dance conversation. Choreographed by internationally renowned, Sydney hip-hop dance artist Nick Power (CYPHER) and accompanied by the beats and sound design of Jack Prest (Future Love Hangover), Between Tiny Cities រវាងទីក្រុងតូច is a playful dance experience offering a cross-cultural perspective on style and locality. This project is the result of a four-year dance exchange run by Darwin-based ACCOMPLICE. The exchange, between Darwin’s D*City Rockers and Cambodia’s Tiny Toones youth program, has seen the two crews travelling, training, battling and performing together across both countries.
